Dear friends,

The city of Florina welcomes the Women’s Epee World Cup, the most significant sport event this frontier city has ever hosted, which for 2 days will be the center of world fencing. These Games will constitute a trial for those athletes who wish to test their strength in view of the Beijing Olympic Games 2008.
 
At the renovated Florina’s Sports Center, 86 women athletes representing 25 countries from all around the world, among which the 16 best athletes according to the world classification, will be present and compete each other in fair and true sport spirit, attracting the world’s interest as well as making new records and gaining international fame. 

I am confident that, by the support of the World and the Hellenic Fencing Federation, as well as the Greek Deputy Ministry of Sport, this event will meet with total competitive and organizational success, bringing Florina at the center of the international sport world.

The arrival of top women fencing athletes in Florina will give the opportunity to the fans to get acquainted with this fascinating sport discipline, which requires total self-concentration as well as perfect technical skills, and has made important steps forward during the last years in our country.  

I am very happy to send a cordial address to the greatest women fencing athletes of the world, wishing them to succeed even higher performances, offering at the same time beautiful spectacle and strong emotions.
